ABOUT PRF TREATMENT

phoenix arizona prf under-eye injections for dark and thin skin

Platelet-Rich Fibrin or “PRF” is a natural regenerative treatment that uses a concentrated portion of your own blood to rejuvenate delicate under-eye skin. Packed with growth factors, platelets, & fibrin, PRF helps stimulate collagen & elastin production, improving skin texture & tone in the tear trough area.

Unlike traditional fillers, PRF does not add volume immediately, but instead works gradually to:

  • Reduce dark circles & under-eye hollows

  • Thicken skin & improve skin quality

  • Stimulate collagen for a firmer, brighter appearance

  • Deliver natural, long-lasting results with minimal risk

Because PRF is completely autologous (comes from your own body), it’s an excellent option for patients seeking a natural alternative to under-eye filler or for those who are not candidates for filler due to thin skin in that area.

PRF FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

PRF can be a great alternative to tear trough filler, but it does not always replace it. PRF improves skin quality & firmness by stimulating your body’s natural collagen production. It’s ideal for patients who:

  • Have thin or crepey under-eye skin

  • Experience puffiness or swelling from traditional fillers

  • Prefer a natural, regenerative approach

However, if you have actual under-eye hollowing, immediate and more significant volume correction, tear trough fillers would deliver immediate and more significant volume correction. In some cases, PRF & filler can be used together to enhance both skin quality and volume in the tear trough area.

If you’re planning for a special event or trip, we recommend scheduling your treatment at least 4 months before — to ensure your results are fully settled and looking their best.

Follow these tips before your PRF appointment to minimize bruising & swelling:

  • Avoid blood-thinners for 3–5 days: Blood-thinners include drinking alcohol, taking aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, & certain supplements like fish oil or vitamin E (unless prescribed by your doctor).

We’ll draw your blood for your PRF treatment, so drink plenty of water the day before & morning of your appointment. Also, eat a light meal before your appointment.

PRF works gradually, not instantly. Most patients begin noticing improvement in skin tone and texture within 4–6 weeks, with continued improvement over several months. Because results are cumulative, we usually recommend a series of 2–3 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart for best results.

PRF under-eye injections do come with noticeable under-eye swelling, which is a normal part of the healing response. Most patients experience moderate to severe puffiness around the eyes that typically lasts about 2–3 days. This swelling is temporary and part of the body’s natural process as the platelets begin working to regenerate collagen & elastin.

We recommend planning your treatment when you have a few days of social downtime & avoiding important events immediately after. You should also avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, and heat exposure for 48 hours post-treatment.

Because PRF stimulates your body’s natural collagen production, results develop slowly & can last up to 12 months. One maintenance treatment every 4-6 months can help prolong & enhance your outcome. It’s also safe to combine PRF with other treatments, like microneedling, for full-face rejuvenation.
